Flurries of festive fund-raising as Northfield's Royal Orthopaedic Hospital launches Christmas campaign

NORTHFIELD’S Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) charity has launched its Christmas appeal after one of the toughest years in NHS history.

The charity supports the ROH Foundation Trust’s patients, staff and carers with wellbeing schemes throughout the festive season.

This includes gifts for patients staying in hospital over the holidays and those being visited by the outreach team between Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, as well as gifts to staff to recognise their incredible work throughout the year.

Additional funds raised will go towards festive celebrations throughout the hospital as well as implementing a new patient entertainment system across inpatient areas in the hospital, planned for 2022.

Charity manager Ali Gray said the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital Charity relied on the generosity of local businesses and community for fund-raising and donations helped support the ROH to provide a high-level of care and support for patients, visitors, medical students and staff.

“Christmas can be a difficult time of year to be in hospital and during the Christmas season, dedicated staff at the hospital will continue to work hard to spread love, cheer and provide outstanding services to those who visit for life-changing treatment.

“With the kindness of our fund-raisers, we can help make their Christmas special.”

A Festive Dress Day (where staff can wear Christmas clothing in return for donating £1 towards the appeal) will be held, along with a raffle which includes prizes such as afternoon tea at The Ritz and a spa day for two at Malvern Spa, all donated by the community.

The raffle will be drawn on December 8 and all funds raised will support patients unable to return home and staff working tirelessly over the festive season.

To enter the raffle, text CHRISTMAS to 70215 and follow the instructions.

Christmas cards are on sale at rohcharity.org/shop for £3.99 for a pack of 10.

For the first time, the charity is also offering bespoke high-quality corporate Christmas cards in batches of 50 or 100 starting from just £50.

Anyone interested in supporting that scheme can email [email protected] for more information.

And on December 7, a Christmas Market will be held outside the hospital’s Outpatients Department between 10am and 3pm.

It will feature amazing food to eat in or take away, gifts to buy and performances by the ROH Staff Choir at 11am and 2pm.
