'Fixing traffic lights at Bromsgrove junction won't be done in the forseeable future' - Highways chief

REPAIRING the traffic lights at a busy Bromsgrove junction is taking longer than expected because a new traffic signal controller needs to be constructed.

Coun Mike Rouse, cabinet member with responsibility for Highways at Worcestershire County Council, spoke to the Standard today about the turning between the A38 and Birmingham Road.

It was around 4am last Friday when a car crashed into the box which houses all the controls for the traffic lights.

Highways have since put a temporary pedestrian crossing and traffic management in at the junction but the right hand turn from the A38 into Birmingham Road is currently closed.

Coun Rouse said: “Because of the extent of the damage, this is a complex fix and a new traffic signal controller has to be constructed.

“This is being looked at with urgency.”
