Films revealed for Bromsgrove's Sanders Park Drive-In Cinema

Bromsgrove Editorial 28th Jul, 2020 Updated: 28th Jul, 2020   0

THE FILMS which will be screened at the drive-in cinema at Sanders Park have been revealed.

Blue Sky Cinema’s events will be coming to the park from August 7 to 9 and 21 to 23, offering a mix of 80s and 90s classics as well as the latest blockbuster films.

Among them will be singalong movies, such as Mamma Mia, Grease, The Greatest Showman (with subtitles) and The Bodyguard.

Recent films include Joker and Rocketman and household favourites Back to the Future and Jurassic Park will also be shown.

There will be 18 films screened over six days during the day and into the evening and with romcoms, action movies and more the line-up will suit all tastes and enable people to watch them from the safety of their own cars.

Coun Phil Thomas, whose portfolio covers leisure and cultural services, said: “I’ve heard many people say recently that ‘2020 is a write off’ so I’m really proud of our Parks and Events Team who have worked hard alongside contractors to bring this drive in cinema to our beautiful park.

“It’s exciting and different and so much more than your average trip to the movies; it’s bringing enjoyment and positivity to our residents during these strange and difficult times.”

A family of four can enjoy the movie in their car for as little as £22 (including booking fees) in the knowledge all government guidance and social distancing requirements are adhered to and built into the cinema experience.

NHS, Emergency Services, key workers and Local Authority employees can enjoy a movie for all occupants of a car for just £11 (ID will be required).

Ian Taylor, Managing Director of Blue Sky Cinema, said: “I’d like to thank Bromsgrove Council for providing the opportunity for Blue Sky Cinema to bring these great value movie experiences to local people at Sanders Park.

“A lot of hard work is taking place in the background, with both my staff and council officers, to make sure that visitors will have a fantastic experience with the added security that they will be safe in their own space.”

People can take along their own refreshments or pre-order food and drink through the Blue Sky Cinema website or app.

Refreshments will include a ‘Retro Box’ with candy floss, popcorn and sweets from the 80s, or for those looking to enjoy a more luxury experience there will be handmade crisps, toffee popcorn, raspberry ripple marshmallows, Belgian chocolates, prosecco and – for the designated driver – fresh orange juice. Designated drivers will all receive a complimentary bottle of water.

The cinema experience is expected to be popular and tickets are limited so interested visitors are advised to book in advance at .
