AN AIR of festive spirit is set to fill Bromsgrove with the council this week announcing its events list in the run up to Christmas.
Christmas lights switch-on events are taking place across the district as well as the town centre market and live music entertainment.
Bromsgrove
The town centre Christmas events kick off on Friday, November 22 with St John’s Market in the High Street from 10am to 4pm that day and on the Saturday.
Alongside the market on November 23, there is the Countdown to Christmas organised by Bromsgrove District Council with the lights switch on at 5pm.
Entertainment runs from 3pm and includes sounds from Altogether Vocal Choir, Blackwell Concert Band, Bromsgrove School and Artrix pantomime.
Rubery
The following week (Saturday, November 30) Rubery Lights switch-on runs from 3pm until 5pm with the chance to meet Father Christmas and the Ice Queen, live music entertainment and the chance to sing carols with St Chad’s Church.
A host of other switch-on events are being held in Bromsgrove’s centres, supported by the district council.
Alvechurch
Aston Fields’ event takes place on from 2pm to 10pm on Sunday, December 1, Alvechurch’s event takes place at 4pm on Saturday, November 30. Barnt Green’s festivities run from 3.30pm to 4pm on November 30.
Catshill
Catshill’s festivities take place a week earlier from 3pm to 6pm (November 23). Hagley’s runs from 4pm to 7.30pm (Saturday, November 30). And Wythall’s event takes place from 4.30pm to 5.30pm (Friday, November 29).
Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio-holder for leisure, Coun Bernard McEldowney, said: “Once again there is an amazing line-up of festive fun across the district and what’s more, they are free.
“To help residents keep track of what’s on, we have created a postcard with all the dates and times on which is being distributed across the district including Parkside and libraries.”
