THE FAMILY of a father-of-two who died in the M5 crash near Droitwich have paid tribute to a ‘devoted husband and loving father’.
Aidan Martin Walsh, who was 52, passed away following the collision involving two lorries and a van near the slip road of the M5 at 3.10pm on Monday.
Aidan came to England from Dublin in the 1990s to help bring up his nieces and nephews following the untimely death of their dad.
The family said that summed up his selfless attitude and strong moral character.
“The family have truly lost their rock.
“Although in such horrifying circumstances, it’s difficult to remember Aidan in any way other than a devoted husband and loving father.”
He built himself a life in England and married Jayne, the love of his life who, at the time of meeting her, was an end of life carer for his sister Nuala.
“Aidan and Jayne had 20 wonderful years married and although tragically cut short, it is difficult to be anything other than thankful for each and every day they spent together.
“The courage and support his two children have shown to his mother in this last awful week is a testamony to the man.
“His influence and personality truly lives on in his boys.”
Aidan was also a successful international table tennis player who represented Ireland.
The family added they would like to thank people for the many wonderful messages they have received from our friends.
“It truly shows how far and wide this great man was truly loved as well as how he touched many people’s hearts.
“He will be fondly remembered by them and our family for his great sense of humour and wonderful personality.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to urge anyone who can help police with their enquiries to come forward.”
Police continue to appeal for witnesses to the crash.
Aidan, who was the driver of the van, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Occupants of the other vehicles received treatment for minor injuries.
