AN PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition exploring the everyday lives of the people of Bromsgrove District in the past gets under way tomorrow (Saturday).
Familiar Lives will be available at Bromsgrove Library until January 24.
It follows an appeal by artist Clare Nisbet for people to contribute their photographs of life in Bromsgrove district from 1945 to the present day, whether a family event – wedding, Christening or special outing, to a house, garden, landscape or street.
Contributors were also urged to share their knowledge and recount stories about their photographs.
Clare also visited local groups as part of the project and the exhibition boasts a good mix of photographs and stories spanning several decades.
The project has been supported by ReNEW Grant funding from Bromsgrove District Council which is from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund
Clare told the Standard: “It was interesting to get to know people and find about their lives through their photographs.
“This project is a chance for seemingly ordinary and familiar events to be told as an important and legitimate part of the cultural and historical knowledge of past lives pertinent to Bromsgrove and the district.”
