MEMBERS of Bromsgrove’s Extinction Rebellion have been out and about to highlight the issue of air pollution near schools.
The group – in hazard suits and masks – was outside St John’s Middle School last week and three XR members headed to Charford First School on the Worcester Road the week before.
A spokesperson for Extinction Rebellion Bromsgrove said: “We recommended reducing air pollution by stopping idling engines, replacing wood burners, buying electric cars and avoiding online shopping home deliveries.
“Also, to reduce one’s child’s risk of getting asthma, avoid walking to school along main road.
“Parents showed an incredible lack of awareness of the local air pollution issue and its risks.
“This was a two way information exchange, since we learned that Charford First had already written to parents about air pollution and St John’s has an eco-education leader.”
The group now wants to meet with eco-reps from schools in Bromsgrove district and has urged them to email: [email protected] too get in touch.
