PEOPLE can get their countdown to Christmas into gear with a Christingle service taking place at Bromsgrove’s St John’s Church.
The event takes place at 4pm on December 11.
Traditionally, a Christingle is four cocktail sticks laden with sweets placed in an orange – to represent the four Sundays of Advent.
A line of red tape around the orange represents the love and blood of Christ and a candle in the centre creates a warm, magical glow symbolising the power of light to help those whose lives are affected by darkness.
Christingle services are aimed at bringing communities and families together in the run-up to Christmas.
