ROYAL Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) NHS Foundation Trust is the first in Europe to deploy the Edison True PACS on the cloud, which will offer intelligent productivity tools to its radiologists.

The collaboration between GE Healthcare and Amazon Web Services (AWS) will help ROH radiologists to enhance reading speed, reduce errors and enable more confident diagnoses.

The system allows cloud-based imaging solutions, integrated data and clinical operational insights to hospitals and aims to help the transition away from traditional care delivery models to a more virtual alterantive.

It also allows remote access to tools needed by healthcare professionals to care for patients, including home reporting.

One of the most useful tools is the ZFP 3D viwer, which allows staff to view 3D images anywhere and anytime, including on their mobile phones.

ROH IT programme manager Liam Maiden said: “We’re really proud to be one of the early adopters of the GE True PACS solution in Europe, which complements our ongoing Cloud Transformation Programme, NHS Digital Cloud First Policy and our commitment to innovation.”

“Not only will this migration help to reduce our carbon footprint but will allow us to dynamically upscale and downscale our environment to meet business needs – making work easier for colleagues and improve our patient’s experience.”
