Encourage loved ones to prioritise their health on Valentines Day

Bromsgrove Editorial 13th Feb, 2023   0

AS VALENTINES DAY approaches, people across the county are being urged to get their loved ones to take up a free blood pressure check.

New research released today by Tesco revealed many people are struggling to prioritise their health during the cost-of-living crisis.

The research shows people across the West Midlands are more likely to service their cars and household boilers each year than take a routine medical examination.

In addition, 57 per cent of people are more likely to prioritise their loved ones health than their own.

Tesco is working with the British Heart Foundation to encourage more people across the county to routinely check their blood pressure for free at the supermarket’s in-store pharmacies.

Analysis shows these appointments could help detect thousands of high blood pressure cases and prevent hundreds of heart attacks and strokes.

Tescos CEO in the UK and ROI Jason Tarry said: “Reducing high blood pressure is one of the biggest changes people can make to reduce their risk of heart attacks and strokes, but most people don’t realise that they can get their blood pressure checked for free, without an appointment, at an in-store Tesco pharmacy.

“Seventy-one per cent of people told us that supporting the health of their loved ones is a top priority, and there’s no better way to show your loved ones that you care than by encouraging them to take easy measures to look after themselves.

“This February, we have thousands of blood pressure checks available at our pharmacies in communities across the country, helping to make checking your blood pressure as simple as doing your weekly shop.”
