A FURTHER two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a Redditch man outside the Asda store in Jinnah Road last night, Tuesday, March 8.
And police, in what they say is a fast moving investigation, are appealing for a further three other people involved in the group to contact them.
Furthermore they say the group of youths were not local to Redditch, but had travelled here from the south Birmingham area.
Last night police named the victim as 53-year-old local man Ian Kirwan.
Detective Chief Inspector Leighton Harding said: “Although formal identification has yet to take place, with permission of his family I can inform you that that man was 53-year-old Ian Kirwan from Redditch.
“Our thoughts are very much with his family at this awful time and we are offering them our full support.
“Ian suffered a fatal stab wound after an attack involving a group of youths.
“Six of them were arrested yesterday evening on suspicion of murder and remain in custody.
“Today, a further two youths have also been arrested on suspicion of murder.
“We know that a further three people were involved in the group that attacked Ian and I appeal directly to them to please contact police.
“This group were not local to Redditch and all travelled to the town from the south Birmingham area.”
And he added he appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack or who may have dashcam footage of the group to please call police on 101.
Safer Neighbourhood Officers have increased patrols in Redditch and will maintain a highly visible presence in the area over the coming days.
