LIFELONG Bromsgrove bowler Eddie Brown celebrated his 100th birthday last Wednesday with family and friends at his beloved local indoor bowls club.
Eddie arrived at Bromsgrove indoor bowls club in style in a 1925 Delage classic car before being greeted by over 100 friends and family members.
He was a founder member and shareholder of the bowling club and was still competing in the sport until last Christmas, winning his last club championship event in his 90th year.
Eddie was called up as a despatch rider during the Second World War and his D-Day medal was on display at the club on his birthday.
To honour Eddie’s landmark birthday, the club created a trophy in his name which will be awarded on March 1 each year to a member who has gone above and beyond to support and develop them.
And alongside his presents and card from King Charles, birthday boy Eddie received an extra special gift, becoming the trophy’s first recipient.
