TWO MORE drivers will be getting points on their licences and fines after being caught using handheld mobile phones at the wheel.

In the first incident yesterday a man was caught on the A38 in Bromsgrove.

He was antagonistic towards officers from Worcestershire Operational Policing Unit who had pulled him over who said he ‘couldn’t see the error of his ways’.

The second man was pulled over on the A491 at Bell End by the same team of officers.

They posted on Twitter: “The bright red phone and huge smile on his face as he looked straight at us didn’t help his cause.”

Both will be getting six penalty points on their licence and a £200 fine in the post.

The stops were part of a crackdown by West Mercia Police and other forces across the country which runs until March 29.

Shocking statistics show over the past three years, four people have been killed in road traffic collisions in West Mercia where mobile phone use was recorded as a contributory factor.

An additional 14 people suffering serious injuries during that time because of mobile phone use at the wheel.
