A PEDESTRIAN was hit by a car in Barnt Green last night.

The grey BMW was travelling along Blackwell Road when the collision happened, around 11pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his 20s, was on the pavement when ambulance crews arrived.

He was treated by paramedics, a critical care paramedic and a merit trauma doctor before being taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Major Trauma Unit.

The critical care paramedic and merit trauma doctor travelled with him en route because of the severity of his condition.

A 43-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with information should call PC Joseph Curry on 101 extension 773 3404 or by email [email protected]
