Driver caught using handheld mobile phone at the wheel in Bromsgrove faces road ban

A DRIVER faces a ban from the roads after being caught using their handheld mobile phone at the wheel.

The silver Vauxhall Corsa was pulled over on the A38 in Bromsgrove by officers from Worcestershire Operational Policing Unit.

The crime can land motorists with six penalty points on their licence and on this occasion sees the driver amass 12 – the number which incurs a disqualification.

Culprits can also be handed a £200 fine to go with the points.




It comes during a crackdown on the offence which began on the Monday.

West Mercia Police is one of many forces across the country to be taking part in the operation which is backed by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC)and runs until March 29.


Over the past three years, four people have been killed in road traffic collisions in West Mercia where mobile phone use was recorded as a contributory factor, with an additional 14 people suffering serious injuries.
