BROMSGROVE’S Liberal Democrats have backed their party’s election manifesto which puts the NHS at the heart of its mission.
The plans which claim to be a fully costed £9bn proposal aim to tackle the health and care crisis.
The Liberal Democrats’ pledge to ‘save the country’s health service’ includes giving everyone the right to see a GP within seven days, or within 24 hours if they urgently need to, with 8,000 more GPs to help deliver on it.
Guaranteed access to an NHS dentist is also proposed for everyone needing urgent and emergency care, ending ‘DIY dentistry’ and ‘dental deserts’.
The party also aims to boost cancer survival rates and introduce a guarantee for 100% of patients to start treatment for cancer within 62 days from urgent referral.
Plans will also include aims to overhaul the water industry and tackle sewage pollution, provide a dedicated mental health professional in every primary and secondary school and return to community policing including a new burglary response to tackle unsolved crimes.
Liberal Democrat candidate for Bromsgrove, Dr David Nicholl said: “As a working NHS doctor living in Bromsgrove, I have never been more proud to stand in support of this manifesto.
“A Liberal Democrat vote in Bromsgrove is the best way to reverse the damage of years of Conservative harm to the NHS and social care.
“People desperately want change, from fixing our health and care services to returning to proper community policing, the Liberal Democrats have a plan to make our community a better place.
“The Liberal Democrats are fighting for local people and giving communities the change they want.”
