DODFORD Children’s Farm’s Kelly Broadfield visited Bromsgrove’s Beer Farm Brew 61 on Monday to toast the success of its Jubilee Beer, which raised over £350 for the charity.

The commemorative best bitter, ‘Don’t Hop Me Now’ was launched by Brew 61 in April, with 10 per cent of the profits from all sales going to Dodford Children’s Farm.

The charity offers holidays and short breaks for disadvantaged or disabled youngsters, with the cash going towards the refurbishment of its outdoor splash pool.

‘Don’t Hop Me Now’ was available in bottles for the general public to buy as well as in casks and kegs for the hospitality trade.

Brew 61 owner, Tim Dunkley, said: “We are proud to have played our part in helping local people raise a glass to celebrate the extraordinary 70 years reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

“We are also delighted that our Jubilee Best Bitter will help support an important local charity – which is also based on a farm in Bromsgrove.”

“We chose a best bitter as our Platinum brew because it is a quintessentially English beer.

“However, we’ve recently discovered it may have been a favourite tipple of Her Majesty, who launched her own beer brand in May 2021.”

Brew 61 wrote to Queen Elizabeth II to congratulate her on her Platinum Jubilee back in June, and received a royal response from Her Majesty on August 25, just two weeks before she died.

Tim added it was a correspondence Brew 61 will cherish forever.
