A DESPERATE plea for help has been issued by a local family hit by a Christmas tragedy in Italy.

Five-year-old Dominic Boschetti, a pupil at Inkberrow First School, is fighting for his life after the car he was a passenger in was hit by a lorry.

Now a major fundraising drive has been launched after his mum Jordan and his immediate family flew out to be at his side.

Dominic had gone out to Italy to spend Christmas with his father, Guiseppe, and was being driven to see his Italian grandmother when the crash happened, at 6am on December 22.

The youngster, described as a ‘shining beacon of light’ by his uncle Corin Hetherington, from Redditch, was pulled from the wreckage by Guiseppe, who himself had suffered serious injuries.

“Dominic was pronounced dead at the scene, but somehow they managed to revive him,” said Corin.

His family in England, mum Jordan from Bromsgrove, Corin, and their mum Jacqueline, also from Redditch, immediately flew out to be by his side.

“As a family we are distraught,” said Corin.

“Dominic is in hospital in Brescia and Jordan has given her job at Studley Castle to be with him.

“We simply do not know how long this is all going to take.

“Dominic was asleep in the car and has multiple injuries and has been placed in a medically induced coma.

“He suffered a cardiac arrest at the scene of the accident.

“He also has lesions on his brain and is on life support.

“His mum Jordan doesn’t have the means to fund all the expenses involved in the aftermath of this tragic event.

“He is the most amazing beautiful little boy. He is bilingual speaking fluent Italian and English and all his school friends have been sending messages of support to his mum’s phone.”

The family are hoping to raise £5,000 and are a quarter of the way there.
