A JEWELLERY shop forced to temporarily close on March 23 due to the COVID-19 pandemic has launched a competition for people to design a new silver pendant.

Cupitt in Bromsgrove is hoping people will get creative to fend off the boredom experienced during the lockdown.

The design can be hand drawn or created on a computer and should be emailed to [email protected] by 11.59pm on May 8.

The contest to anyone aged 16 and over, excluding jewellery design students or professional jewellery designers.

Cupitt Jeweller will shortlist ten designs and these will be then be posted on its Facebook page for a public vote to chose the three winners.

The winners will receive a £100 gift voucher to spend at Cupitt Jeweller when the shop re-opens and their design will be made in the shop’s onsite workshop and sold under the banner ‘The People’s Design Collection’.

Business owner Åsa Cupitt said: “It was heartbreaking to have to close the shop as a result of government guidelines and I’m keen to maintain engagement with all our customers and social media followers.

“Hopefully this competition is a wonderful opportunity for people to demonstrate their creativity in designing a piece of jewellery they would love to see become a physical reality.”
