A DEFIBRILLATOR has been installed at the town’s Life After Stroke Centre, thanks to the Bromsgrove Lions.

Carol Brogan, who is a Lions member and a stroke survivor, uses the centre regularly and became aware it did not have one of the life-saving devices.

At the club meeting which followed, members agreed to fund and buy a defib for the centre as large numbers of stroke survivors were visiting there each week.

Ian Kendall, the Life After Stroke Centre’s facilities manager, said: “I have been here for four years and we had a request for a defibrillator two years ago so we were looking into getting one.

“Then I had a chance conversation with Carol who mentioned the Lions’ project and it is fantastic they were able to donate one to us.”

The Lions also provided training to four members of the Life After Stroke Association team.

“They now feel prepared in case they ever need the skills they have been taught.”

Bromsgrove Lions Club has already donated six defibrillators to local schools and has another one awaiting delivery.

Lion Keith Godwin said: “We are very grateful to everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts for this cause, bringing the total of these lifesavers funded so far to eight.”
