A CROWDFUNDING campaign to have a bench installed in Hagley Park to remember a Natasha Clark who took her own life saw quadruple the amount needed pledged in just a matter of hours.

Natasha Clark, who was also known as Tash, was just 17, almost 18, when everything became too much on May 23 last year, during the lockdown.

Jake Nicholl and some of Tash’s other friends launched the GoFundMe page to raise £400 on Monday and in less than a day more than £1,400 had been put forward.

Jake said: “Tash was a good friend of ours – she was an amazing person, a loving friend and an important part of many people’s lives.

“She was funny, caring and amazingly receptive if there was anything on our minds, and to see such a unique and incredible person go was heart breaking for us all.”

He added the placing of the bench in the park was significant as it was where their peer group spent many hours chatting and having fun.

The bench will have her name and a quote from the Harry Potter series, which she adored so much.

The chosen line from Sirius Black reads: “The ones that love us never really leave us.”

Any cash raised above the £400 will go to the Young Minds charity, which is dedicated to improving mental health among the younger generation.

This week also marks Mental Health Awareness Week.
