A CAR WASH held at Bromsgrove Fire Station yesterday (Saturday) raised £615.51 for the Fire Fighters’ Charity.

It was sponges, buckets and hoses at the ready as many motorists headed down and came away with their vehicles sparkling in return for a donation.

The event was held ahead of a Three Peaks Challenge next month.

Not only will the team take on the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scaffell Pike) and Wales (Mount Snowdon), they will also cycle from mountain to mountain – some 500 miles in total – and aim to complete it all in just five days.

We spoke to firefighter Lee Rudge yesterday.

He said: “A massive thank you to everyone who came down to have their car washed.”

He added the training had been going well, despite some of the team being hit by seasonal bugs, and the team was now taking on some longer rides, including to Malvern.

The Fire Fighters Charity provides specialist lifelong support for members of the UKs fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. The charity supports serving members of operational and support staff, retired members and their families.
