THE Ryland Centre in Bromsgrove is the next Covid-19 rapid flow testing site to open in Worcestershire.

Bromsgrove residents, aged 18 and over, who don’t have virus symptoms can book a free lateral flow test between 10am and 5.45pm, Monday to Saturday.

Rapid-turnaround lateral flow tests are a new type of technology, which provide results within an hour.

The aim of this testing is to help drive down transmission rates, as one in three people who are infected with Covid-19 are asymptomatic and could be spreading the virus without knowing it.

Identifying people without symptoms means finding positive cases quicker and breaking the chains of transmission.

Manager of the New Road centre, Michelle Jones, said: “After having our business closed again for the third time, we are really pleased to be able to reopen and support our local community and residents with rapid lateral flow testing.

“We know that it will be accessed by our members, customers, local residents and the wider community for those that need to produce a negative test for their employment. Also for those who want to support driving the transmission down in our local area.”

Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Councillor Karen May, added: “This is great news for residents in Bromsgrove.

“I encourage as many people as possible, particularly those who are unable to work from home, to utilise the testing.”
