Countdown under way to the big Rubery Christmas lights switch-on

Bromsgrove Editorial 19th Nov, 2021   0

THE BIG Rubery Christmas lights switch-on will take place next Saturday, November 27, after last year’s Covid cancellation.

Music, singing and street entertainment will keep crowds entertained between 1pm and 5pm.

Street Theatre will include a Fairy and Christmas Pudding walkabout, Twistina and Twistifa with their balloons and barrel organ and Steve Kaos showing off his circus skills.

The popular Primrose Hospice Tree of Lights switch-on and blessing by Rev Claire Turner and Rev Hamilton will take place at 4pm.

This will be followed by the countdown and main lights switch on at 4.30pm. There will be no central stage to avoid overcrowding in line with Covid guidance.

The car park in front of the Co-Op will be shut from 6am.

Leisure portfolio holder, Coun Phil Thomas, said: “We are so pleased we could bring back a more Covid secure version of the Rubery switch-on this year to help residents welcome the festive season safely.

“It will be a lovely, family-friendly event for residents of all ages to enjoy.”

This event is kindly supported by Rubery Festival.
