NEW Buddy Benches have been installed in the playground of Stoke Prior First School, thanks to Bromsgrove South councillor Kyle Daisley.
Coun Daisley provided £1,300 from his Divisional Fund to support the school in buying them.
The idea is if children feel isolated or are in need a friend they go and sit on the bench and then others can go and speak to them.
Friendship and emotional expression are essential aspects of childhood development but for some children, navigating these aspects can be challenging.
Buddy Benches serve as a solution to combat loneliness and bullying in schools.
These benches provide a visible signal for children who are feeling isolated and in need of a friend to play with or someone to talk to.
Beyond addressing immediate feelings of loneliness, Buddy Benches also play a crucial role in teaching empathy and kindness to other children by encouraging peer support and fostering a sense of inclusivity.
The benches contribute to creating a positive and supportive school environment.
Coun Daisley said: “I am proud to support Stoke Prior First School in their efforts to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for their students.
“Together, we can make a difference in supporting the lives of young people and build a stronger, more caring community for all.”
