Commuters travelling between Bromsgrove and Birmingham warned about new speed limits from tomorrow

COMMUTERS are being warned the new speed limits on the main road between Bromsgrove, Rubery and Birmingham come into force tomorrow.

The Bristol Road South in Northfield and Longbridge and Lickey Road in Rednal, which are 40mph at the moment, will drop to 30.

It follows the confusion back in June when council workers put up 30mph signs next to the 40mph ones.

The new signs were later covered over and the new limit was due to be implemented by mid-July.

But minor amendments to the signs and work to cut back branches which were obscuring the new speed limit signs has meant the new limit could not be introduced until now.

The alterations are part of the Longbridge Connectivity Project.

Highways bosses see extending the 30mph from Northfield Town Centre all the way along the Bristol Road South and Lickey Road to the Bromsgrove border as improving the road’s safety.
