Come and join in an African song spectacular at Bromsgrove's St John's Church

A COMMUNITY performance of Zimbe will take place on July 6 at St John’s Church as part of the Bromsgrove Festival.

Tomorrow from 10am to 1pm – in the run up to the event – there will be a workshop at St John’s Church Hall.

Everyone is welcome to go along and sing the songs of Africa. There are no auditions and no need for people to read music to take part.

Zimbe is a fusion of African song and jazz for adult singers, children’s choir and jazz quintets by composer Alexander L’Estrange.

Children from a number of first and middle schools across the district are hoping to take part, learning their music separately.

Singers from Bromsgrove Community Choir and other local choirs will also be taking part.

Those choosing to be part of the event will have access to online learning resources or CDs and a schedule of rehearsals, mainly on Saturday mornings, will take place for just a £10 fee (to cover costs)
