PEOPLE in South Birmingham in need of a helping hand this Christmas have received festive food from butcher Tony Geraghty and Sainsbury’s Longbridge.

Among the items donated were turkey, gammon, sausage, pigs in blankets, vegetables and Christmas cake.

The supermarket also hosted the Christmas toy trolley.

The drive was organised by Andy and Gemma Cartwright and Tony.

Andy said: “The gifts and kindness from the local community has made sure many local families and individuals will be able to have a Christmas Day making memories together.

“All families and individuals were referred by agencies.

One family said: “This will be our last family time together.

“Due to being terminally I never had time to do a shop because of all the hospital appointments.

“Please thank everyone for their help and donations.”

Andy and Gemma said: “We would like to thank the business community for coming together and making the difference and of course the Bromsgrove Standard for highlighting the campaign.”
