THERE will be chocolate Easter egg and animal making demonstrated by guest speaker Dianne Brothwell at the next meeting of Fairfield WI.

The event will be held at 7.30pm on Wednesday, March 14, at Fairfield Village Hall and will also feature a competition to make a home-made Easter card.

February’s meeting was the cheese and wine evening which members were very enthusiastic about.

They got to try some WI Centenary wine which was given the thumbs up.

The guest speaker was Yvonne Cocks who was the first female paramedic in Hereford and Worcester.

Yvonne told members she had to overcome some resistance from male colleagues which made her more determined to continue.

One case left her suffering from PTSD and eventually she retired and became a counsellor working with stress, phobia and PTSD cases both in England and abroad.

The members found Yvonne’s story very interesting and enjoyable and the competition was to make a heart-shaped cookery item.

Meriel took first place with her ‘Secret Heart’ cupcakes, Beverly was second and Meriel also took third.

The result of the Resolution slips which went through last month was that ‘Mental Health Matters’ got the most votes.

The annual meal at The Gate in Bournheath took place at the end of the month.
