Charity trust launched to build new state-of-the-art community centre in Cofton Hackett

A CHARITY trust has been formally launched to build a new state-of-the-art community centre for the people of Cofton Hackett.

The Cofton Village Hall Trust is in final negotiations with St Modwen about the hall which will be situated on the corner of East Works Drive and Groveley Lane.

The trust is unsure how much the hall will cost but is hoping to raise between £80,000 to £100,000 for the project.

And it is looking for people who want to be involved with the project and potentially help donate towards the final build.

They want to hear from people with professional fund-raising and grant application experience and people who have worked in marketing, branding, communications and website design.

It is hoped the new hall will become a focal point for the community, bringing together established and new residents in a fantastic new space available for a variety of activities and events.

Chair of trustees Rev Sheri Gidney said: “We are extremely excited about being able to provide a new place for our community to strengthen and grow.

“We want Cofton Village Hall to be an important part of the life of the village, providing something for everyone.

“But we can’t do it on our own – we need the community itself to be part of how the hall is created and how it operates.”

Residents who want to get involved with the project are being urged to attend an open event taking place between 9.30am and 12.30pm on August 18 at the entrance to Cofton Fields, opposite the site on East Works Drive.

Anyone with any questions about the project should call Rev Sheri on 0121 238 7912, email her at [email protected] or email Kath at [email protected] for more information.
