A CHARITY entertainment night will be held at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club at 7.30pm next Friday, March 1, to raise funds for Meadow Park FC.

The evening will feature music acts Steve Maitland, Skye Hadley, Ami-Louise Knight and Warren Simmons, along with magic act Mindsways. It will be compered by Standard editor and stand-up comedian Tristan Harris.

Meadow Park Football Club was launched in 1985 with just one team.

Since then it has gone from strength-to-strength, becoming an FA Charter Club and now having 17 teams of all ages, from under 8s upwards, girls’ teams, adult men and adult ladies.

Meadow Park has 160 to 180 players on its books from Bromsgrove, Droitwich, Redditch and Birmingham.

The club also owns its home ground and runs the five to 11 Wildcats on behalf of the Worcester FA. The Wildcats was a project to get more girls into football.

Aidy Boothroyd who currently manages the England Under 21s has coached at the club in the past.

Vice Chairman Ken Symonds said: “The charity night is to raise money for new achievements and to keep improving grassroots football in the area and help secure the club’s long-term future.

“We offer people the chance to play the Beautiful Game whatever their age, race, ability or background.”

Tickets for next Friday’s event are £10 in advance or £12.50 on-the-door.

They are available by emailing [email protected] or by calling Ken on 07836 515923.
