Charity ball raises £26k for Bromsgrove's Libby Mae's Little Angels

THIS YEAR’S charity ball for Libby Mae’s Little Angels has raised more than £26,000 for lifesaving neonatal equipment.

The Bromsgrove-based family run charity held the event at the MacDonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham.

It was sponsored by Arbury Motors and this year, all funds from the ball are going towards a Baby Leo Incubator at Heartlands Hospital.

The specialised piece of equipment is vital for saving babies’ lives with the charity managing to raise enough to cover the full cost of the machine.

The ball was hosted by the talented Will Mellor and celebrity guests included The Only Way is Essex stars, Jon and Chris Clarke.

The brothers attended the ball and hosted the raffle.

Chris said, “It was such a lovely event to be part of. What the family is doing is amazing and we’re so happy they managed to raise so much money.”

The Bromsgrove based charity is dedicated to offering their support to all 18 neonatal units across the region and has raised over £350,000 to date.

The charity was formed in 2013 after Catshill parents Rich and Charlotte Sharratt lost their daughter Libby Mae at just two weeks old.

Libby had a heart condition and the vein from her heart to her left lung had not developed properly meaning she would never be able to breathe for herself.

Rich and Charlotte were so grateful for the way that the staff at Birmingham Women’s Hospital had reacted and since then have spent their time raising cash for medical equipment needed to look after babies on neonatal units.

The charity has funded incubators and monitors and supplied resources to improve the neonatal journey for babies and their families.

Previous themes have included the circus and masquerade.

Richard said, “This year’s event was a Caribbean Dreams Ball, we treated guests to rum cocktails and an amazing Caribbean themed meal.”

Libby Mae’s Little Angels will continue to support the neonatal units across the region and are now looking forward to the next ball in 2020.
