A BROMSGROVE dog groomer has helped a student at Chadsgrove Educational Trust Specialist College to complete his work skills targets.

Jane Woodward has been running her Absolutely Grooming business since 2005 after 20 years at MG Rover before the car manufacturer closed.

She retrained with dog grooming centres in Shropshire and gained a City and Guilds with a commendation.

For the past ten years she has been offering volunteering placements to students at local colleges who need to complete 150 hours practical experience in a workplace.

Anyone wanting to work wiith animals has to get plenty of hands-on practical training to show their competence and that they can handle the working conditions.

Jane is proud some of the students have gone on to have successful careers in animal care and even dog grooming.

Harry – a third year student at Chadsgrove – undertook a placement with Jane, assisting in bathing and grooming of the college PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog Poppy.

He has been working towards pet care learning goals after expressing an interest in working with animals.

Jane and the team made Harry feel very welcome and he was very pleased with his part in making Poppy look and feel fabulous.

Jane’s grooming salon is being given a new fresh and modern look which Harry will be visiting with Poppy when it opens.
