A COUPLE from Bromsgrove plan to make millions of new memories after playing online and scooping the £2M Lotto jackpot prize in the draw on Wednesday 13 October.

Andrea Law (43) and her husband Mike (50) are very clear that the win will be used to make lots of amazing memories with loved ones, after a challenging 18 months.

Andrea said: “The last 18 months have been tough for us, as they have been for everyone.

“We have lost a number of close family members including Mike’s mum last year rather suddenly which was incredibly hard for us all. It’s made it even more important for us to make memories.

“It isn’t about houses and cars, it’s about staying grounded and having a wonderful time with the people we love.”

Andrea was suffering with a tooth infection on the day she found out she had won, and had no idea how her life had changed overnight when she woke up that Thursday morning.

She said: “I was in bed poorly when I checked the ticket on my National Lottery online account.

“I looked at my phone and saw the incredible winning amount and just put it down – I didn’t know what to do, I was so shocked.

“I didn’t tell Mike straight away as he had to drive and take the kids to school.  He would have ended up in a hedge, daydreaming about the win if I had told him before he left!

“It felt like the longest journey ever as I waited for him to get home – and the kids’ school is only four minutes away!”

The couple had initially decided not to share news of their win with anyone but after taking some time away from home with their two young boys, they decided this kind of news was worth sharing.

Andrea said: “We went to the Lake District at the start of half term as a family for a belated birthday trip for Mike. It was nice to go away just the four of us and get our heads around the win, which is when we decided we would share our news. It was such a relief to tell people.”

The win means the couple can pay off their mortgage.

“It’s massive for us. We pushed ourselves to get our house and it has meant we would have to work later than we would have liked. But that won’t be an issue anymore. The huge pressure to pay off a mortgage is gone and it means we can focus on making memories instead.”

And the first memory the family plan to make is a trip to Greece next summer, with longer term plans to visit LA where the couple used to live.

But even after the life-changing win both Andrea, a Marketing and Communications Manager and Mike, an Art & Photography Teacher, plan to continue working as normal to ensure they set a good example for their two young children.

“We are both going to keep working, it just means we can retire sooner, and together. We have worked so hard – we both put ourselves through university and saved for our house and we want to set the right example for our boys.

“Worth ethic is a massive thing for us and they know they have to go to school and work really hard.

“We have said to the boys we are going to live as usual but we can go on more holidays and make amazing memories.”
