A BROMSGROVE business owner is celebrating the first anniversary of his carpet and rug shop.
Darren Varney opened Carpets, Rugs and Runners on the Stourbridge Road, in May last year.
Following initial challenges associated with setting up a new business the shop has firmly established itself as part of Bromsgrove’s retail community, netting over 350 sales in its first trading year.
As well as selling carpets and rugs Darren also offers a fitting service, working in conjunction with qualified, fully-insured specialists.
He was particularly proud to work with Primrose Hospice earlier this year, laying new carpets in the reception area and offices.
Keen to continue his support of the local charity he recently donated a special first anniversary cake made for his shop to the Hospice for the patients to enjoy.
In what has been a busy 12 months Darren has also taken part in a television show, filmed at Pinewood Studios last November.
The programme is due to be broadcast in the summer.
Darren said: “The people of Bromsgrove have been very supportive of the shop and I’ve received many kind comments and reviews.
“I am looking forward to building on the first years’ success as I continue to develop the business.”
