Burglars break into Rubery children's salon, stealing equipment and trashing play area

THE OWNER of a salon which specialises in cutting children’s hair has slammed burglars who broke in, stole cash, clippers, scissors and toys from the play area.

Tasha Campbell slammed the thieves who snapped the locks on the front door of Trimz and Tantrumz on New Road before taking around £35 from the till and the other items.

The break-in happened at some point between Saturday and Tuesday morning and because of the extent of the damage and her not having any equipment she was forced to close for the day.

“I just can’t believe anyone would do this to a children’s salon.

“I lost a day’s takings while I cleaned up the place and waited for the locksmith to come out and then I had to get new clippers and scissors.

“We have been here in Rubery for three years now and nothing like this has ever happened before.”

The thieves spilt green paint all over the play area and it has had to remain shut since the incident.

Tasha said she was unable to claim on her insurance because the excess she would have to pay and the impact on next year’s premium would outweigh the cost of the damage and equipment.

“Luckily I was able to fit in everyone who was unable to be seen yesterday in today but with the current coronavirus situation as well this has come at a bad time.

“We don’t know how our income will be affected by that.”

She praised the local community for their kind messages and offers of support and replacement toys for the play area.

“We were named the Best Small Business of the Year in the Birmingham awards in November so we were on a high from that but this has put a downer on it.”

Forensic tests were carried out on the play area where the paint had left marks for officers to examine.

Witnesses or anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
