Burcot Grange hosts Macmillan Coffee Morning with a twist

BROMSGROVE’s Burcot Grange and The Lodge care homes held a Macmillan Coffee Morning with a twist – it took place in the evening.

Staff, residents and their loved ones enjoyed cocktails, canapes, music and more at the event, which was a resounding success, raising £665.80 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support and the Alzheimer’s Society.

The event comes following the easing of social distancing restrictions by new owners Berkley Care Group to bring the homes in line with government guidelines, meaning for the first time since the pandemic, families no longer need to make appointments to visit relatives.

Loved ones can also now participate in activities and events at the home.

Guests and residents enjoyed espresso martinis, a local string trio and raffles where they could win prizes and hampers donated by local businesses.

And residents could get a fresh trim for the occasion with a hairdresser brought in to ensure they looked their best.

Vicky Osborne, Burcot Grange and The Lodge’s general manager, said: “It’s been fantastic to be able to welcome family and friends into the home for this evening’s event and marks our embrace of ‘the new normal’.

“We wanted our residents to have a memorable time enjoying themselves with their loved ones, while also raising money for Macmillan, and this evening has certainly delivered.

“It’s been great that so many residents, families and friends have been able to come along and support such a great cause.”
