A ‘FRIENDSHIP BENCH’ has been donated to a Bromsgrove school to help combat loneliness on the playground.

Taylor Wimpey North Midlands donated the bench to Clent Parochial School to help encourage collaborative activities such as reading and support friendships among pupils.

The newly installed Clent Parochial Primary School buddy bench has been donated to the school in coordination with the World Book Day and Share a Story Month campaigns.

The bench has been inscribed with the slogan ‘Take a seat, make a friend – where kindness begins and friendships grow’ which aims to encourage pupils to use the bench as a dedicated space for making new friends and having positive discussions with their peers.

Elisabeth Hyland, headteacher at Clent Parochial Primary School, said: “We’d like to thank Taylor Wimpey North Midlands for such a kind donation.

“It’s been really rewarding to see our pupils using and benefiting from our newest addition to the playground.

“The children have been using the bench to talk to each other as well as invite each other to play in various games during their lunchtime and we’re sure they’ll continue to use it throughout the remainder of the school year. ”

Taylor Wimpey North Midlands shared its pride in making the donation and helping to support strong bonds among the school’s children.

Sarah Pasco, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey North Midlands added: “It was really important to us we provided something that really benefited Clent Parochial staff and pupils.

“This small but impactful donation is just one of the ways we’re contributing to the Bromsgrove community, and we’re already looking forward to what we can do next to support the town.”
