Prior to the annual count, children from Castle Nursery came along to play bird-related bingo and take part in colouring activities.

The older people also enjoyed a trip to Upton Warren Nature reserve to see how many different varieties they could spot.

Dawn Covill, home manager at Chandler Court, said: “We’ve been researching British birds common to Bromsgrove and are very excited to be taking part in a variety of activities throughout January.

“Residents here at Chandler Court have a keen interest in nature, so we thought that researching local wildlife, as well as seeing birds of prey would be the perfect way to discover what’s on our doorstep.”
