STUDENTS at St John’s Middle School in Bromsgrove took part in a host of war-themed activities throughout the week leading up to Armistice Day, including letter writing and code-breaking, writes Demi Andrews.

The children learned about former pupils from the school who fought in The Great War.

Continuing its participation in the Legacy 110 project, two pupils researched two brothers who were former students of St John’s.

The week concluded with a Remembrance assembly on the playground for the whole school.

Pupils wrote personal messages on small wooden crosses which were then placed around a larger Remembrance cross put up in the school grounds for the service.

Head of history Daniel McEvilly said: “This could not have been achieved without generous donations made by local businesses including Broad Street DIY and Thomas Brother Funeral Directors.”
