A MUCH-NEEDED service dedicated to those unable to drive or use public transport has had a great response from Bromsgrove drivers willing to help.
Following an appeal for volunteers in Bromsgrove and Redditch, four people have signed up and joined the Rural Rides team.
As part of the community scheme, drivers provide transport to those unable to make essential journeys due to mobility problems or suitable travel being unavailable.
Run by the Royal Voluntary Service, journeys can be for social, welfare, recreational, medical or educational reasons and can be outside the district.
Service manager Celia Arthur said: “We have had a great response we have taken on new drivers and still get people ringing up.
“Despite this we still need drivers, especially for our pilot scheme providing transport from Redditch to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
“We see this as a long term sustainable scheme.”
