BROMSGROVE’S Queen Bs group for women over 50 officially ‘revealed all’ on Saturday when they launched their charity calendar for the Primrose Hospice.
The event to unveil the Calendar Girls style project took place at the Lickey End Social Club which gave the function room for free,
There was also a burlesque performance on the night and an auction which raised £2,000 for the primrose.
The calendar has already raised £13k for the cause, thanks to sponsorship from local businesses – each firm could use their premises as a backdrop for the photoshoots.
There are now 2,000 copies on offer at £10 each which will take the final total to more than £30,000.
Bev Nibbs, who started the Queen Bs group to give women the chance to take part in fun projects, suggested the calendar idea.
She said: “The launch night and the big reveal was amazing as no-one, including the members and our sponsors, had seen the calendar.
“Everyone was blown away with the quality of the photographs and the calendar as a whole.
“For quality, they said it was the best they had seen.”
On having the pictures taken, Bev added: “None of us had done anything like this before and, at first, we all felt quite nervous.
“But thanks to our lovely photographer Natalie Clarke and clever use of props we all relaxed.
“My inspiration for my Queen Bs club was to offer friendship and fun challenges for women over 50 and this topless Calendar Girls challenge embodies my original idea perfectly.
”I am so proud of everyone who has taken part.”
The calendar is available online and from a number of venues in Bromsgrove, including Butcher’s Block, Aston Fields Social club, Lickey End Social Club, Scruples hairdressers, Sherwood barbers, Eyedeal Eyecare, LK Hair, Alexandra Richmond, Zenergy, Marsia Hair and Glamour, Nails Avenue, Capillago, Primrose Home Care and Hospice, Bromsgrove Golf Centre, Total Image, Gilbert’s Barbers, LHDP Smilecare – Landsdowne House Dental Practice, Duncombe butchers, julia.thorleybeautyroom, Attwood accountants.
