A BROMSGROVE Group for women over 50 which was launched on Facebook has raised an eye-catching £13k for the Primrose Hospice after baring all in a charity calendar.
Bev Nibbs started the the Queen Bs group to give women the chance to take part in fun projects – from disco dancing and meditation to canoe trips and mountain climbs.
Bev, 63, put forward the idea, inspired by hit Brit flick and stage show Calendar Girls, and local businesses were approached to sponsor each month of the calendar.
The firms which stumped up the cash were able to use their business premises for the backdrop for the photo shoots.
Bev said: “We are a group of women from the Bromsgrove area – none of us have ever done anything like this before.
“At first, we all felt quite nervous, but thanks to our lovely photographer Natalie Clarke and clever use of props – we all relaxed.
“It was fabulous to see how everyone taking part embraced the challenge and felt quite empowered afterwards.”
Bev added she wanted to say a massive thank you to the local businesses for their generosity which has generated the £13,000.
The group now aims to sell 2,000 copies of the calendar – at £10 each – both in and around Bromsgrove and online which the group hopes will take the final total to more than £30,000.
Bev said: “My inspiration for my Queen Bs club was to offer friendship and fun challenges for women over 50 and this topless Calendar Girls challenge embodies my original idea perfectly.
”I am so proud of everyone who has taken part.”
The calendar will be officially launched today (Saturday, September 2), and will then be on sale.
