BROMSGROVE’S official Proclamation of King Charles III takes place tomorrow (Sunday, September 11).

The District Proclamation will be held at 3pm at the Bandstand in Sanders Park with everyone welcome to attend.

The ceremony will mark the formal Proclamation to the people of the District of Bromsgrove of the beginning of our new King’s reign and will include an announcement of the accession which took place immediately on the death the Late Queen Elizabeth II.

This will be one of the first occasions when communities have an opportunity to come together and reflect on the moment in our nation’s history when the reign of our longest-serving Monarch came to an end and our new Sovereign succeeded.

The National Proclamation

The National Proclamation of King Charles III took place at 10am this morning in the State Apartments of St James’s Palace, London.

The Accession Council, attended by Privy Councillors, was divided into two parts.

The first part saw the Privy Council, without The King present, proclaim the Sovereign, and formally approve various consequential Orders, including the arrangements for the Proclamation.

The second part saw The King hold the first meeting of His Majesty’s first Privy Council. The King made his declaration and read and signed an oath to uphold the security of the Church in Scotland and approve Orders in Council which facilitate continuity of government.

The Accession Council was followed by the Principal Proclamation, which was read at 11am this morning from the balcony overlooking Friary Court at St James’s Palace.

The Proclamation was read by Garter King of Arms, accompanied by the Earl Marshal, other Officers of Arms and the Serjeants at Arms. This is the first public reading of the Proclamation.

Remembering the Late Queen Elizabeth II

A short parade and service, along with a two-minute silence, will take place at the Bromsgrove war monument in Crown Close, at 6pm this evening (Saturday) to remember The Late Queen Elizabeth II.

And, at 6pm next Saturday, September 17, a Service of Thanksgiving will take place at St John’s Church in Bromsgrove.

A book of condolence has been opened at the Bromsgrove Council House at Parkside for residents to pay their respects and show their love and support for the Royal Family.

Parkside will be open between 9am and 5pm everyday, including this weekend (September 10 and 11) and next weekend (September 17 and 18).

People can also sign an online Worcestershire book of condolence here.
