Bromsgrove's Norton Collection Museum 'should be open in March' with brand new look

Bromsgrove Editorial 11th Feb, 2022   0

BROMSGROVE’S new-look Norton Collection Museum should be back open next month with a brand new look.

Work – at the venue on Birmingham Road – is being carried out to create more space for displays and make the museum more accessible.

Previously there was a small staircase where people could not even pass each other on so the new one is double the size.

There will also be a new lift, along with an eye-catching glass front and there are plans for a tea room.

Trustee Dennis Norton said: “We have said for a long time the museum needed two main things – to be more accessible and a more modern look.

“It will have both of those aspects and we are still hopeful it will be open by March.

“When it is finished, the work will enhance both the museum itself and Bromsgrove.”

Dennis is hoping to obtain funding for a proper curator for the museum who would be employed initially on a two-year contract.

But he admitted the venue was facing some financial struggles and he has appealed for anyone who can help with funding to get in touch.

Anyone wanting to donate or to find out more should visit nortoncollectionmuseumtrust.org.uk or call Dennis on 01527 919531.
