BROMSGROVE’S Gymshark founder Ben Francis has received an honorary doctorate from Aston University in recognition of his achievements.
Ben, who attended South Bromsgrove High School, established his fitness and clothing business whilst a business and management student at Aston.
It quickly became the fastest-growing company in the UK.
Ben is now 29 and last year, Gymshark sales exceeded £100million across 170 countries.
When he was 28, he became the youngest-ever winner of the EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year award.
In February, because of his skills, experience and expertise, Ben was enlisted to a new advisory group of senior business leaders from across the region to help aid the West Midlands’ economic recovery from the pandemic.
He received his Aston University doctorate during the spring graduation ceremonies earlier this week.
Saskia Loer Hansen, Interim Vice-Chancellor of Aston University, said the ceremonies were a time to look back on the achievements and experiences gained over the course of their studies, but also an occasion to appreciate the wealth of opportunity that now lies before them as Aston University graduates.”
