A BROMSGROVE choir has been hitting the high notes – both musically and with its fund-raising – after helping collect an amazing £7,276 for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven charity.

The town’s Got 2 Sing joined its compatriot choirs from across the Midlands to perform a 10th anniversary celebratory concert on Sunday at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

A total of 14 Got 2 Sing choirs, along with its youth choir, joined forces with more than 700 singers in total taking to the stage.

They belted out a host of contemporary and classic songs from a ‘Sound of Music’ medley and The Greatest Showman’s ‘From Now On’ to Elton John’s classic ‘I’m Still Standing’ and Queen’s legendary ‘Don’t Stop Me Now.’

The latter was fitting with their performance earning them an encore as well as a standing ovation.

Alexandra Craigie, Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven’s charity director, was delighted the choir chose the cause to be its 10th anniversary concert benefactor.

“We were absolutely thrilled to have the opportunity to work with them and the concert was just magical.

“We cannot thank them all enough for their support.”

Bromsgrove’s overjoyed Got 2 Sing choir leader Cathy Hart added: “It was a wonderful concert.

“We have been absolutely overwhelmed with messages praising the professionalism of the performance.

“The fact we have several choir members who have been affected by breast cancer in some way made it such a relevant charity for us to support.

“It was an amazing experience for us all and I would like to thank everyone for their generosity in supporting this fantastic cause.

“There is no feeling quite like it – everyone is on a real high.”

Bromsgrove’s Got 2 Sing Choir rehearses every Thursday from 7.30pm to 9pm at St John’s Middle School, Watt Close, with the new term starting on September 15.
