CHARFORD First School has been given a cash boost by Worcestershire County Councillor Chris Bloore who has granted £5,000 to help the school rebuild its play area which is in need of repair.

Coun Bloore made the donation from his divisional fund after hearing about the school’s quest to improve the area, including the dated play equipment.

Currently the Parents and Friends of Charford First School are trying to raise £45,000 to give the play area a revamp.

Coun Bloore said: “Charford PFA does an incredible job in helping raise much needed funds for the school whilst at the same time bringing our community together.

“I’m delighted to be able to help the work of Steph Marsh and other parents in helping replace and update parts of the playground.

“It’s a team effort and we’re fortunate to have a staff team, governing body and parents and friends association who are working day and night to give the best education to our children.

“As local councillors we are just looking to help in any way we can.”

A number of fund-raising events are being organised later in the year in a bid to find the rest of the cash required.

Among the events are a quiz and fizz night on June 7 and the Summer Fayre on July 5 when local residents can help raise more money.

Contact the school reception or the PFA for more details.
