STAFF and students at Chadsgrove Educational Trust Specialist College held an afternoon to thank people from the community who had helped them in the past year.
The event was held as part of the campaign to promote specialist further education (FE) colleges and the good work they do and it coincided with the International Day of Persons With Disabilities.
Among those invited in were STEM ambassador Nicola Knowles, Bromsgrove Town Crier Kevin Ward, Jules Evans from the Royal British Legion, Bromsgrove District Council chairman Sam Evans, councillors Shirley Webb (Catshill) and Sam Ammar, along with Standard editor, Tristan Harris.
The visitors were presented with a certificate and a gift and treated to tea, coffee and cake.
Videos created by students Ellie and Dylan to speak about the positive impact Chadsgrove College had had on their lives were also played.
The Specialist FE College campaign highlights the establishments’ key aims, including unlocking education, transforming lives and having a lasting impact on the students who pass through their doors.
Chadsgrove College Principal, Deb Rattley, said: “I felt very strongly about all young people having the freedom of choice when it came to further education.
“So we set up the college 10 years ago with just five students to offer opportunities to those aged 19 and over.
“Since then we have grown and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for all their help and support over the years.”
She also thanked the dedicated staff who went ‘above and beyond day in, day out’ and ensured young people could have a say in their futures.
“We need to maintain who we are and what we are – young people who can thrive.”
