A BUTCHERS in Bromsgrove is celebrating its first anniversary by holding a charity event tomorrow (Saturday).

Staff at Butcher’s Block, based on Bromsgrove High Street, will be raising money for the Primrose Hospice and Alzheimer’s Society.

The entirely female-run business will be giving away its popular Lils’ Baps from its street food stand in return for charity donations all day. There will also be a chance for people to enter its raffle to win a £30 meat hamper.

“When we first took over we didn’t realise just how much work would be needed to bring a decent, traditional butchers back to the high street,” said head chef Michelle Holsey-Sheppard.

“We want to give something back to the local community because if it wasn’t for people’s support we would not be where we are now.”

The butchers has recently been nominated for ‘Best Independent Butcher’ in the upcoming Birmingham Awards.
